Path Of The Mind: LESSON ONE.... Breath Control

Path Of The Mind: Lesson One
Breath Control

Some of you may have entered this temple with a mastery of breath control and moving energy through the body, but, in order to make sure everybody can follow along, I will begin from the most basic of basics.
Breath Control, when practiced enough will give you the tools needed to move energy through your body (and your partner’s body, which is actually the goal of this all) and heal yourself and others –among a host of other things that we will discuss later on.
Mastering your breath can be accomplished in a month, if done properly at the set times. The best times to practice is when you wake up in the morning and right before you go to bed. These are optimal times to do so as well as, a perfect way to begin and end a day. Focusing on your breathing, you will enhance your overall sense awareness. This, is almost even more crucial if not just as crucial, as moving energy through your partner’s body because you are perfecting yourself, your mind and connecting them on both spiritual and physical planes of time and space. In simpler words, YOU ARE BECOMING MORE WHOLE. A MASTER OVER YOURSELF.
By all means, try to squeeze in more than twice a day for the practice of this technique to better grasp it and perfect it. You want to ideally practice for about 5 to 10 minutes when beginning and increase the length over time. I say, go longer always, the longer you can spend doing nothing but focusing on your breath THE BETTER!

PREPARING THE ENVIRONMENT
You want to practice in a comfortable environment, a very dim room with some incense is perfect. Some candles, some soft music can enhance the practice. Take care NOT to use anything other than very slow, melodic music that soothes. Nature Sounds is by far the best soundtrack to any meditation session.
Before you begin the practice, take the time to do some light stretching to open your joints and allow the energy to circulate properly. You want to be open. Perform the Sun Salute to empty and warm up the lungs and navel point where your Dan T’ian is located (right behind the navel, you will feel it when you draw the air there.)

BREATH CONTROL TECHNIQUE
While performing the following technique, PLEASE focus and visualize the energy moving through your limbs and Chakras. I have included a diagram at the end of this post of the Vital energy centers that the Air MUST travel through successfully. If at any point the air is “difficult” to move through a point or limb, it is because there is blockages. This is nothing to become worried about, it means you have some negativity or Past Life Regression locked in this point.

Each Energy Point governs some aspect in your everyday life. We will discuss this in an upcoming post, in depth.

1.       Sit on the edge of a chair
2.       Take a couple minutes - or however long you need - to clear your mind of thoughts. (toss all your worries and troubles into a mental trash can and get rid of it!)
3.       Feet are planted firmly on the ground. Shoulder width apart.
4.       Hands are clasped with your dominant hand over the other with their palms kissing and fingers locking them in place.
5.       Tongue is placed on the crown of the upper palate in your mouth. (when you breathe into your belly, you will draw it down the tongue. This also connects your physical to your Psychic Self)
6.       Point your focus on the belly and draw the air deep into the lungs and fill them up, imagining that your whole body is filling up with energy.
7.       Draw this energy up through the feet.
8.       Inhale for 12 counts.
9.       Hold the inhale in for a three count and imagine a purifying white light, cold and electric entering your body and recharging it.
10.   Exhale for 12 counts. Clearing your body of all negativity.
11.   Hold for three counts and imagine the energy turning red and entering up into the body through the feet, up the spine, through the throat and into the brain.
Continue this for the maximum duration of the time. 5 minutes is OKAY when starting out but you get more of a benefit by going for the 15 to 20 minute bracket, and of course, more is always warranted.
NOTE
your belly must be empty in order to be of any use to you for this practice. So, don’t eat anything before practicing and after practice wait for about 10 to 20 minutes before eating so the energy can reverberate through the whole body without any trouble.
Drinking Water is recommended. Just don’t over do it, a glass before practice is sufficient.
AND REMEMBER…. PRACTICE. PRACTICE. PRACTICE!
